A Sweet Success: Our Candy Buy-Back & Simple Holiday Tips for Healthy Smiles
November has been a wonderful month at Seedling Kids Dentistry! Thank you to all the families who participated in our annual Candy Buy-Back Program—your enthusiasm helped make this our most successful year yet.
Candy Buy-Back Success
We were thrilled to see so many families trade in their extra Halloween candy for prizes and healthier smile-friendly rewards. Together, we collected pounds of candy that might have led to extra sugar and cavities this season.
This year, all donated candy was gifted to At The Crossroads, a nonprofit in San Francisco that supports young adults experiencing housing instability. Their mission is to meet individuals “where they’re at” by offering:
· Street outreach and one-on-one support
· Food, hygiene supplies, socks, and essentials
· Long-term guidance toward housing, education, and employment
· Compassionate, judgment-free care
Your donations helped brighten the season for young people in our community—thank you for giving back with kindness and generosity.
Holiday Dental Tips for Healthy Smiles
With Thanksgiving and the holidays approaching, here are simple ways to protect your child’s smile:
1. Keep Brushing & Flossing Regular
Brush twice a day for two minutes, and floss daily—especially when routines get busy. Pack a travel kit if you're on the go.
2. Choose Tooth-Friendly Treats
Better options include chocolate, fresh fruit, cheese, and whole grains. Try to limit sticky or gummy candies that cling to teeth.
3. Encourage Drinking Water
Water helps rinse sugars and protect enamel—fluoridated tap water is even better.
4. Enjoy Sweets with Meals
Eating treats during meals increases saliva flow, which helps reduce cavity risk.
5. Schedule Post-Holiday Checkups
The new year is a great time to get ahead of dental care—book early before schedules fill up.
We’re Thankful for You
